Well we finally made it back up to Basecamp for a few weeks (well that is the plan). I think that I was not supposed to bring my computer because the lowspeed (explorenet) was not working and neither was our land line. Needless to say this makes it hard to work! Good news is that there is a great cafe in town that have free dsl wifi so life is good. After a bunch of calls and being on hold we have the stuff setup to get fixed.
Landline:
Then need to run a new line from the road so in the meantime have layed down a temporary line. The funny thing about up North is the way that people work. This AM we were at the cafe shop have morning coffee and catching up on emails. In the back of my head I thought that Bell would be at the house early and wanted to get back but Paula had some work to get done. We decide that she will drive me back and head to the cafe again. When we get up to the house we see two Bell trucks and two guys working. They tell me that they have layed a temp line and that they will have to get a new line in place.
Cool, I think but I know that for them to do this work they would need to get into the house. Up here we do not always lock the door when we are up as if someone wants to break in they can and no one will see them. I walk up to the house to find a new hole drilled into the wall near the front door (yes a hole). They walked in when we were not around and drilled a hold, cut the old line and setup the temp line. Had we not come back I’m sure we would just have had a note. In the end I would have liked to be there as I would have drilled the hole 5 inches to the left and hide in under the siding but what can you do. The good news is that I have a phone line now. Just weird as in the city they would have just bailed and I would have to book them again.
Inet:
I need a service tech to come out and have a look at the dish as it is not pointing in the right place. Apparently this is important
So hoping that they can make it out next week at some point. Then all will be good again at Basecamp
Slow Life:
I have to admit the slow life is going to be nice for a couple of weeks. Great expresso, lakes to swin in, and BBQ’s All this with a ton of work to get done for next week but working here just seems like cheating at times.
